Agents can be designed to gather context, propose or execute bounded steps across systems, verify observable outcomes, and escalate exceptions. Their value depends on workflow fit, integration reliability, approval policy, and measured performance against the process they replace or augment.

Multi-system orchestration can be useful when one request spans several controlled actions. An employee transfer, for example, may require changes in an HR system, directory, access-management tool, asset system, and facilities workflow. An agent could coordinate approved steps, track dependencies, verify system responses, and report unresolved items. Before granting write access, teams should test idempotency, authorization, partial-failure handling, compensating actions, and the human approval points for each target system.
Measuring Success: Define Autonomous Resolution
Define autonomous resolution before reporting it. A defensible definition might require the request to reach a verified terminal state without human action, reopen, policy exception, or hidden manual step during a stated observation window. Report eligibility, completion, escalation, error, rework, and satisfaction separately, and explain exclusions. A hypothetical seven-in-ten result is a scenario, not an ActiveMotion benchmark; its economic effect still depends on baseline handling cost, quality, operating expense, and whether saved capacity becomes an actual cash saving.
